Health and Physical Education Week 3rd-7th September 2012

Celebrate being active

ACHPER TAS HPE Week Picture.jpg

Health and Physical Education Week (HPE) provides an opportunity for classroom and HPE teachers to promote and incorporate health and wellbeing activities and events into their weekly planning. HPE week is a celebration of health and wellbeing; being active, learning about how to look after ourselves and encouraging schools and their communities to think about ideas and ways of working to incorporate health and wellbeing into their school in a sustainable way. ACHPER Tasmania acknowledges schools already support health and wellbeing in many ways and encourage all schools to showcase their practices during this week.

HPE week is an annual event which has been missing from the Tasmanian School calendar for many years. After a successful reintroduction in 2011, ACHPER Tasmania is actively promoting and supporting HPE Week during the week of the first National Health & PE Day in 2012.

Download the PDF below from 2011's HPE Week for a number of suggestions for individual teachers, classes, grade groups and whole school settings on how to integrate HPE into other curriculum areas, lunch-time activities, ideas for incorporating students with disabilities and community events.

You will also find links to some relevant websites, contact details for sporting and community organisations and a number of school stories to inspire you.
