How to Be Involved

Thank you to all of the schools, teachers, and students who got involved in the inaugural National Health & PE Day celebrations by demonstrating to the wider school community why you value H&PE in your school.

Schools celebrated the day in the following ways:

  • 588 schools totalling 130,203 students helped create an Australian record of the most students running, jogging or walking on the same day by participating in the adidas Run Around The World event, the marquee event of National Health & PE Day. All students needed to do was run, jog, or walk at least 1km each on the day. The goal was to run one lap of the world (40,100km). In the first year of the event, the world was lapped 3.25 times! • A number of our ACHPER state/territory branches held their 2012 H&PE Weeks around National H&PE Day, with plenty of opportunities for schools to show parents and the community some of the important things they do to promote active and healthy living and learning through their H&PE program. Contact your branch to see what activities they conducted in 2012 and have planned for next year.
  • There were a number of resources and ideas for your class or school to implement on the day in the Plan-To-Celebrate School Guide. Have a look and start thinking how you would like to celebrate the day in 2013!
  • Schools were asked to share how they planned to celebrate the day by becoming a National H&PE Ambassador. See how some schools celebrated National Health & PE Day in 2012 here.
